Delivering mutual benefit from NHS and Pharma partnerships – grasping the opportunities

The Society's 2010 half-day meeting, to be held on the afternoon of Thursday 14th October at the King's Fund in central London, promises to be a highly interactive and thought provoking meeting.

The meeting, to be chaired by industry commentator Roy Lilley, brings together an expert panel of speakers from both NHS and industry who will provide an insight into the benefits, drawbacks and the practical problems in forming and implementing partnerships from both the perspective of the NHS and industry.

The aim of the meeting is to stimulate discussion and debate on current key issues related to partnership between NHS and Pharma.  The meeting will provide an insight into the benefits, drawbacks and practical problems faced by the NHS when forming and implementing partnerships with Pharma and asks whether Pharma believes partnership with NHS is just a nicety, or an essential part of its business.

Additionally, we will examine how the changing nature of the NHS (for example the recent suite of White Papers) impacts partnerships. This will be explored with reference to the following questions:

  • Can we expect 600 different formularies and processes?
  • Will the 150 NICE treatment pathways to be completed by 2014 lead to more or less postcode prescribing?
  • Will field force size need to increase or can we expect the decline in numbers to continue?
  • How will value based pricing affect the opportunity and structure of partnerships?

To ensure the presentations are tailored to meet your expectations and address your particular needs, we are inviting questions to be submitted in advance of the meeting. This will ensure that the issues delegates are most interested in are covered, with speakers providing  opinions, advice and  guidance to take away.
