PM Society Sailing Regatta

PM Society Sailing Regatta - 14th-15th June 2009 - Port Hamble

Whether you're a seasoned sailor or novice, this event will bring a smile to your face, as you race alongside colleagues from across the industry in the battle for the much-coveted PM Society Cup.

Now in its sixth year, the 2009 PM Society regatta promises to be the best yet, with racing taking place at Cowes, home of the world-famous Cowes Week yacht race.

June 15th begins with breakfast at Port Hamble marina, near Southampton, followed by a morning's yacht training for you and your crew with a professional skipper in the Solent.

PM Society Sailing Regatta FlagOnce you've got to grips with tacking and gibing, it'll be time to take the helm and get the feel of your yacht, as she slices her way across the Solent towards our midday rendezvous at Cowes Yacht Haven.

Lunch will be held at the prestigious Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes, overlooking the central Solent where the racing takes place.

After lunch, the fleet departs for the serious business of the day – the PM Society Regatta. And if previous years are anything to go by, racing will be fast and furious with around thirty or so yachts jostling for position at the racing marks.

This is where you and your crew will get the chance to put what you've learned in the morning into practice. If the wind is up, things will get more than a little busy as you trim the yacht to get best boat speed. But it's not all about speed, it's tactics as well, and by the end of the day, you'll know that "port gives way to starboard" and "taking someone's wind" is more fun than it sounds!

And to keep those happy memories alive, a professional photographer will be aboard a speedboat buzzing round the fleet and capturing the action. You'll receive a DVD with all the best shots taken on the day.

Whether your crew is made up of clients, staff or a combination of both, this will be a day they'll remember. Few other events offer the same opportunity for building team relationships. Or, if you want to come along by yourself or just bring a guest or two, small parties are also welcome.

Come the night before (June 14th) and enjoy the entertainment – for free!
Crews who fancy getting into the swing of things a little earlier are invited to come along to our pre-race networking evening, held at the Royal Air Force yacht Club, situated on the beautiful Hamble river.

This is a great warm up to the main event and kicks off on Sunday evening with food and entertainment laid on.

We are also able to provide a free overnight stay aboard the yachts for around 100 people*, while local hotels and B&B are available for those who prefer their home comforts.

Sponsorship opportunity!
Invitations are requested for companies to sponsor the BBQ and also the band on the Sunday night – please contact Matt Coleman for details.
