PM Society Annual Lecture 2010

We are delighted to announce that the 2010 PM Society Annual Lecture is to be given by Margot James.
Margot will be discussing the value of the industry as a partner to the NHS and how industry can help to deliver the changes and improvements that are needed within the NHS. As an MP in the newly elected Conservative coalition Government, and with her healthcare communication background, there is no one in a better position to shed light on where the NHS is headed and the role of the industry in this agenda.

Margot graduated from the London School of Economics and co-founded Shire Health, a public relations firm specialising in healthcare. Margot sold her company to the WPP group in 2002 and was appointed to the European board of Ogilvy & Mather in 2005. In 2008 Margot was awarded the Communique Lifetime achievement for communication services to the Pharmaceutical industry.
Margot stood as a Conservative Parliamentary Candidate in Holborn & St Pancras in 2005, was appointed Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party for Women by David Cameron later that year and served as a councillor for two years in Kensington & Chelsea.
Margot stepped down from her role at Ogilvy & Mather in 2008 to concentrate on her political work, and was elected MP for Stourbridge in the 2010 general election.
Alongside her business career Margot became a non-executive director of Parkside NHS Trust, a mentor for the Prince’s Trust and was for ten years a trustee of Abantu, a charity specialising in the development of women’s organisations in Africa. Margot is a governor of the London School of Economics and Redhill School in Stourbridge.
