PM Society Advertising Awards 2004 Ceremony Report

Celebrating creative talent is always a worthwhile thing to do and where better to do it than the PM Society's 19th annual advertising awards?

The newly refurbished Grosvenor House on Park Lane was the venue again for this year's awards, with the pre-awards reception moving back to the Ballroom and the exhibition of all the entries for the first time into the Court Suite. By 11am guests were queuing to get into the Ballroom, although it wasn't clear if this was in eager anticipation of viewing the exhibition, or having their first 'glass of the day!'

By the time lunch was called at 12.30pm, over 1,300 members of the Industry were in full, networking swing and as always, bets were being taken on who would be hosting this year's awards.
The entrance to the Great Room had been transformed into a winding corridor, with advertising billboards announcing the PM Society's Blues Brothers Bash which was to follow the ceremony at 4pm. As guests made their way down into their tables, 'Jake and Elwood' mingled with the Executive Committee members, welcoming everyone to the ceremony.

After a delicious lunch, the much anticipated awards ceremony began with surprise host Rob Brydon, of BBC TVs 'The Keith Barrett Show'. (A little known fact about Rob is that before his comedy success he had a glorious career as a voiceover artist with highlights which included Toilet Duck and the voice of a whimpering bondage man for Tango!!). Guests were then treated to the PM Society's Comedy Store, which included short sets from three up and coming comics, Paul Thorne, Milton Jones and Jim Tavaré who were all hugely entertaining and extremely funny.

The most anticipated part of the day - the announcement of the winners of the fifteen prestigious awards then got underway. Photos were taken, trophies were won, champagne was drunk and winners were cheered and clapped. Full details of all categories, winners and their creative work are reproduced in full here.

Other winners on the day included Graham Morris from Astra Zeneca, who won a Magnum of Champagne in the prize draw, announcing the launch of the PM Society's new Pharmaceutical marketing training initiative - PRIME. For further details please visit prime.pmsociety.org.uk

Also, Project HOPE, the Society's newly adopted charity for 2005/2006 collected a record £7,463.64 in donations from PM Society guests and a prize draw for a week's holiday in Egypt for two people was won by Sally Burgess from Silver Fern.

After all the prizes were awarded guests were encouraged to return to the Ballroom for the Blues Brothers Bash, where trilbies and shades were handed out to revellers. Celebrations continued long into the afternoon and evening and we hope you will all agree - a fantastic day was had by all.

The PM Society would like to thank all of the sponsors who generously support the awards and offer our congratulations to all the winners and of course, commiserations to the losers.

Our photographer managed to capture some great moments during the day. We hope you enjoy the photographs below and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
